Hi Anne,   I knit mostly for fun but I do sell my work at local sales and try to put something special in juried shows a few times a year. Some of it also goes to Mini Mills, in Belfast, PEI. My business card was actually developed as a product tag more than an advertisement. I've done a couple of commissions for mothers-of-brides and that was very rewarding.   I got into lace after moving here. The abstraction of it all suits our dramatic landscape. After all, lace is the frill on the ocean, right? I think of that every time I see a breaking wave, and must dash home and knit white lace immediately. The lichen I see on the rock here is also lace (hence that orangey shawl in the pic). Believe it or not, the fog in the air is often gauzy lace to my eye also and I knit with many foggy blue shades year round. We call that weather "mauzy" here. And lace to me expresses the beauty and fragility of human life here, clinging as we do to the edge of th

Friday "Flock" - Ambergate

It's time for the Friday "Flock" update! Sorry about missing last Friday - but I was at The Needle Emporium Knit Camp up in Muskoka - the weather was great...until Sunday when it turned quite chilly....and that got me thinking about Mittens!  I sure wish I had taken some with me when I was having that early Sunday morning walk before breakfast and the classes started! This edition features lots of great mittens that you might be interested in for yourself, or even for Christmas gifts! Another way to keep the chill off is to wear something over your neck and shoulders!   Ambergate , this week's Flock cover design, is a  stunning cable wrap, and is the Row@n member’s monthly exclusive free pattern for September. Designed by Marie Wallin and using the beautiful yarn Cocoon (merino wool and kid mohair) this wrap features an exquisite cable stitch pattern and cribbed detail edging.  You can find it here. Remember - you must be a Row@n Member to be able to

Juliet, by Ute (fellow RA)

Rowan Magazine 54 has a gorgeous design in it - Juliet by lisa Richardson, using  +RowanYarns  Fine Lace yarn.  It's a gorgeous sweater, knit in two pieces - left front, arm and back, then right front, arm and back, with a crochet band which joins it all together to create a truly unique sweater! Isn't it gorgeous?  Look at the styling of this photo - the hair up, the velvet skirt, the fabulous tapestry or wallpaper in the background.  So elegant and formal.  Knit in Fine Lace.  Absolutely Spectacular. Now Fellow Rowan Ambassador Ute, decided she would knit this for herself....but she wanted a more casual look....so she knit hers in  +RowanYarns  Fine Art hand-painted sock yarn! I LOVE THIS VERSION....I LOVE the way the Fine Art pooled in different patterns with the change of width of each piece.  I LOVE the way Fine Art works in the crochet piece. This is great example of how to perhaps modify a design that you LOVE, but think you might not wear, or it's no
